Venice

In Love with Venice

We know it, Venice is almost always crowded, the world renowned city has been classified by UNESCO since 1987.

A few ideas to avoid tourists groups freshly out of cruise ships.

Built on millions of wooden piles in the lagoon’s mud, the city spreads across hundreds of small islands connected by 400 bridges. You regularly ride gondola or vaporetto boat to change shore and discover the incredible surrounding islands. The venetian lifestyle imposes its rhythm to the inhabitants and visitors.

Our tips for visiting Venice

The contrasts of eras

To understand the influence of arts in the city you can buy a ticket for the Biennale of modern art (May to November on odd numbered year) or Architecture (on even numbered years).

A journey that begins at the Giardini* gardens used for the exhibition since 1985 with main flags of the participating countries. Go through the Arsenale monument ( old shipyard) which extends to numerous Palaces spreading through the whole city. An ideal progression made of labyrinths to explore the city’s rarest views.

2 days minimum pass – about 30 euros for the Giardini’s entrance.

The night starts early , aperitivo !

From 6 in the evening you can relax for the aperitivo* aperitif and chat with locals in a bacaro* wine bar.

Dove?- Where ?

In front of the Chiesa di San Trovaso and at one of the last gondola workshop : Squaro San Trovaso Fondamenta Nani.

Relaxed atmosphere at the Osteria Al Squero and at Al Bottegon a few meters away from each other. Taste the famous Spritz ( originally from Venice ) with cicchetti* italian tapas ( small pieces of bread with gorgonzola, nuts, artichokes, anchovies, tomatoes, mozza…).
Che paciere– What a pleasure !

When the night falls, get lost in the small streets and squares of the Dorsoduro neighborhood, enigmatic ambiance and chills !

Try authentic, honest and tasty Venetian cuisine, at the Osteria All Antica Adelaide in the Sestiere area from Cannaregio.

Dare romantism

Here we are at the renowned caffè Florian while enjoying the violins of Piazza san Marco’s orchestras. Night time is the best time to enjoy the square. Behind its arcades, in the same street as the famous Harry’s bar (where the Bellini was invented) lies a gem, the refined and baroque Luna Hotel Baglioni.

More intimate and classified as one of the world’s most romantic hotel (by the Condé Nast or Times) the Ca Maria Adele is a sublime address you don’t want to miss. Bellissimo !

You can also take the mostoscafo* taxi boat and in 10 minutes reach a private island on which the San Clemente Palace Kempinski Hotel can be found.
